Understand the recommendation
If your dentist recommends treatment for your child, ask which tooth is affected, what the assessment shows, and what options are available. Ask them to explain the plan in language you and your child understand.
Discuss comfort and follow-up
Talk about how your child will be supported, how long the appointment may take, and what you will need to do afterward. Confirm the next visit and who to contact with questions.
Keep prevention part of the conversation
Ask about age-appropriate brushing, fluoride toothpaste, and regular checkups. NHS guidance encourages positive early dental visits and preventive advice tailored to children.
